The Boardman River in Traverse City flows through the heart of downtown Traverse City and connects Boardman Lake to the south up to the Grand Traverse Bay just northeast of downtown Traverse city. The Boardman River winds its way near Front Street and behind many of the stores and restaurants in the downtown district. Boating and kayaking are available from Clinch Marina. You can be taken downstream and kayak several miles away through Boardman Lake and on to the Grand Traverse Bay.
